Purpose of Role

We are currently seeking a competent and skilled Composites assembly fitter to join our rapidly expanding McLaren Composites Technology Centre (MCTC) Team.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Knowledge and application of technical skills to carry out production processes safely and effectively to meet the production plan primarily focussed on Bonding, Finishing and Inspection.
  • Responsible for maintaining the highest quality standards on all manufactured composites components.
  • Support Team Leader with prioritising work and other activities.
  • Stand in for the Team Leader if they are absent.
  • Contribute to training and development of other team members.
  • Ensure the work area is clean, tidy and orderly always in line with brand expectations and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Proactively contributing to develop processes to improve quality and efficiency. 
  • Set an example to production operatives.
  • Provide support on all processes in the department.
  • Working to challenging and demanding deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • A previous background in composites, automotive and/or manufacturing is essential.
  • Knowledge of composite materials, preferably pre-preg materials.
  • Experience with air tools, hand tools and adhesives.
  • Experience & understanding of Quality issues.
  • Experience of Fitting / Assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Has developed proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job expertise.
  • Must demonstrate previous experience of using their own initiative and work under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • PC literate (MS Office, knowledge).
