Purpose of Role

As a Finance Manager, you will be managing a team to deliver effective financial control. You will be primarily responsible for:

  • Supporting the Financial Control team in maintaining all books of accounts
  • Driving the financial integrity of our internal management and external statutory reporting across the MAL Group
  • Own the delivery of month-end closing and reporting activities
  • Ensuring ledgers are maintained, complete and accurate
  • Drive accountability and ownership by providing timely and accurate financial information to
  • business partnering functions
  • Identify and proactively lead improvement initiatives across Finance to support continuous improvements in efficiency, output and control
Principal Accountabilities
  • Management of the end-to-end monthly financial close process, including coordinating the input from the business facing departments, preparation of both internal management reporting (actuals vs budget) and external shareholder and statutory reporting requirements, ensuring effective delivery against the McLaren Group defined timetable
  • Lead monthly Balance sheet reviews covering the following, but not limited to, ensuring balances are complete, accurate and in line with expectations, understanding variances between actuals and budget and providing value-add insight to senior stakeholders to support effective decision-making
  • Monthly oversight and review of general ledger reconciliations and accounting entries
  • Directly manage a team of 2 Senior Finance Analysts and their respective direct lines
  • Provide guidance, goal setting, performance monitoring, weekly one-to-one meetings and coaching where required to maximise productivity, efficiency and team job satisfaction
  • Ensure adequate focus on both personal and career development for both yourself and the team
  • Support Regional Finance teams by providing information, guidance and coaching as and when required
  • Support Financial Controller with maintaining and developing best in class financial controls and internal audit processes
  • Review and maintain McLaren Automotive accounting policies and procedures where required, that are FRS 102 compliant and aligned with those of McLaren Group
  • Support with managing the external audit requirements (interim and full year) for the MAL Group, as well as the delivery of MAL and MAEL statutory accounts
  • Understand and manage interdependencies upstream as well as downstream, meet reporting period-end deadlines, deliver high accuracy output with minimal rework and corrections
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA)
  • Experience in transaction processing and stakeholder reporting
  • Experience with external audit planning and delivery and reporting under UK GAAP with IFRS awareness
  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders providing financial guidance as well as challenge
  • Experience in advanced analysis (including using SAP and Excel) to deal with understanding business problems and risks and the root causes thereof to enable developing solutions and mitigation.
  • Demonstrate a continuous improvement approach to work, including but not limited to, identifying areas for process improvements and implementing robust solutions.
