Purpose of Role

Finance support to the Product development/Operations/Purchasing team.

Rotations around 3 different finance teams, Operations, Bill of materials and Product development.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Finance business partnering – support programme/operational activities, providing accurate and timely financial information to help guide decision making and set strategy.
  • Control of programme/operational/supply chain spend – maintain bill of material and programme spend tracker, capturing approved items and forecast updates, update for month end actuals.
  • Risk and opportunity analysis – support supply chain risk analysis and programme or operational commercial reviews, capture new risks and opportunities, maintain the risk and opportunities register
  • Match pair cross programme team work with engineering, purchasing and manufacturing operating teams to support robust business case analysis and recommendations to leadership
  • Budgeting and forecasting – provide inputs to budgets and forecast updates for programme spending and bill of materials
  • Reporting – update and distribute weekly finance KPIs and status reports
  • Month end – assist with journal preparation and posting for prepayment, accruals, headcount and cost transfers.
  • Requisition approval – review against budget, ensure financial data is correct, complete purchase requisition tracker and present high value item for director sign off.
  • Ad Hoc – data analysis, reviewing large sets of financial data and presenting in a clear format for business partners
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Strong academic background – relevant degree (Accounting & Finance, Business, Mathematics…) with a 2.1 classification or higher.
  • Experience of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Advanced Excel skills – (pivot tables, vlookups, formulae, graphs and ability to present data clearly).
  • Comfortable with large volumes of data.
  • Able to communicate key points to business partners up to director level.


All training for this role will be provided, this will include study support towards a professional qualification in accounting. A Finance mentor will be provided to help guide you through your early career and your professional qualifications.
