Purpose of Role

The role will work as part of a small, multi-functional team split across a 2-shift operation on a 1-week rotation, reporting to a Paint Team Leader.


Principal Accountabilities
  • Follow detailed work instructions for vehicle painting.
  • Ensure all station operations meet quality standards and are completed on time.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and solve problems affecting vehicle quality, cost, or productivity.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Uphold McLaren Values and contribute to the Automotive Brand's growth.
  • Prepare paint spraying equipment and maintain it.
  • Mix paints to the correct color and consistency.
  • Apply multiple coats, including primers, colors, and effect coats.
  • Maintain and clean equipment.
  • Store paints properly.
  • Perform exterior polishing of vehicles with appropriate tools and materials.
  • Inspect finished vehicles for defects to ensure a flawless finish.
  • Conduct flattening, polishing, and touch-up work as needed.
  • Confidently use all necessary tools and materials, with experience in a modern OEM setting.
  • Ensure no defects in the finished work.
  • Prepare vehicles/panels for paintwork, including masking.
  • Perform minor damage repairs through the smart repair process.
  • Clean and inspect cars before the primer process to identify visible defects.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  •       Automotive work experience is helpful
  •      Teamwork experience is preferred.
  •       Working within deadlines is beneficial.
  •       Strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
  •       Follow established processes.
  •       Knowledge of preparing paint equipment is a plus.
  •       Ability to mix paint accurately is advantageous.
  •       Experience in applying various coats is beneficial.
  •       Maintaining and cleaning equipment knowledge is a plus.
  •       Proper paint storage experience is valued.
  •       Quality-oriented with attention to detail is an advantage.
  •       Exterior vehicle polishing expertise is a plus.
  •       Inspecting and ensuring flawless finishes is advantageous.
  •       Skills in flattening, polishing, and touch-ups are desired.
  •       Equipment maintenance experience is an advantage.
  •       Ensuring defect-free work is a plus.
  •       Preparing vehicles/panels for painting experience is desired.
  •       Masking vehicles for painting is advantageous.
  •       Experience in minor damage repairs before painting is valued.
  •       Smart repair expertise is an advantage.
