Purpose of Role

Buy-off Inspectors are stationed throughout the Customer Acceptance Line (CAL) in MPC to ensure that reworks are completed to the correct quality levels and that all finished vehicles are correctly quality bought off prior to FOK.

Principal Accountabilities

The role of Quality Inspector encompasses the following activities: 
  • Determines the severity of defects according to MPA scoring guidelines and ensures that issues are corrected prior to sale forward.
  • Performs inspection of reworked vehicles to ensure quality levels meet customer expectations (“Down-score”).
  • Completes vehicle Customer Acceptance Line Inspections (“CAL”).
  • Function checks finished vehicles to ensure all systems operate correctly (“Function Confirmation”).
  • Buy-off of vehicle specification, including weights and accessories (“Pre-FOK”)
  • Pre-transit quality buy-off with transport logistics / dispatch.
  • Inputs and maintains data into the Quality database (CDB)
  • Perform Torque Assurance checks across various fixing points in General assembly
  • Completes the sale process for the car from MPC into distribution (“FOK”)
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Significant level of expertise in an OEM or Tier One automotive environment.
  • Expertise of working to processes
  • Strong working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Good understanding of general vehicle quality and paint standards
  • Experience of vehicle repair methods is a distinct advantage
