Purpose of Role

The Trackside Logistics & Aftersales Team Leader will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and allocation of resource to various tasks, often across multiple locations, to provide an exceptional Aftersales service to our global customers, race teams, retailers, and trackside support partners.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Co-ordinate the day-to-day activities and allocation of resource for the Trackside Logistics and Aftersales teams 
  • Lead, develop and motivate the Trackside/Aftersales teams to ensure they remain highly invested and focussed on delivery of our Motorsport targets and KPI’s
  • Own the Trackside/Aftersales headcount and budget, working with the Senior Logistics and Aftersales Manager to ensure appropriate resources are allocated to tasks
  • Manage the relationship between McLaren and our EU/US trackside partners, dealing with budgets, event planning, invoicing, and contract negotiation.
  • Grow and develop the trackside logistics support required for any McLaren Trophy Series/PURE/ad-hoc events
  • Deliver a complete aftersales service and parts supply to McLaren GT customers, retailers, and trackside partners
  • Receive, interrogate, and process external customer orders and internal requests
  • Stock management and movement of bespoke trackside support kits
  • Action the physical delivery of motorsport parts to trackside locations in the UK/Europe via road/air
  • Close collaboration with McLaren’s logistics partners managing PO’s, invoicing, and shipment tracking
  • Collate feedback from engineering reports & race events to action customer portal improvements 
  • Processing of commercial invoices and working with accounts to ensure customer payment alignment
  • Liaison with supply chain management to enhance the delivery of sub-assembled components into stock
  • Prioritising urgent spare part orders, to ensure customer fulfilment when required
  • Support any day-to-day activities of the Motorsport stores at McLaren Motorsport HQ when required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Logistics/customer support/aftersales experience within the motorsport industry is essential
  • Strong knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations to support part movement
  • Excellent people management, interpersonal and communications skills
  • Strong decision-making ability and analytical/problem solving skills
  • Full UK driving licence and counterbalance forklift required
  • A solid understanding of race car parts, build processes, and sub-assemblies
  • The ability to demonstrate a calm way of thinking when under pressure
  • Computer literate including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of SAP would be advantageous
  • Structured approach to inventory management
