To ensure McLaren Automotive continues its desire to be “the sportscar company”, we are looking for a Business Intelligence Manager to join the systems and inventory team.

Reporting to the Head of Systems and Inventory you will be fully responsible for oversight and control of our raw material inventory. This will involve fully optimising our inventory holding to balance availability with the minimum level of stock holding to deliver best in class standards.

You will manage inventory in line with the McLaren Automotive business plan and perform a key role with our stakeholders in developing and delivering innovative solutions to a wide range of stakeholders in order to achieve ‘best fit’. As logistics complexity continues to evolve, this role is key in developing the capability to support our future plans. 

Responsible for Logistics reporting; you and your team will provide critical analysis and insight to determine optimum business performance and support informed, proactive decision making.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Review current business reporting, implementing improvements within the Logistics landscape to help drive performance
  • Transition Excel based reports to SAP database driven Power B.I reports and dashboards
  • Take ownership of specific reporting areas and make clear business recommendations based on the findings
  • Ensure that inventory remains within forecast, proposing and managing inventory reduction initiatives within the current and future fiscal periods
  • Ensure that inventory levels are realistic and cost effective. Balance availability with prudent cost control to achieve cash flow targets. Proactively mitigating the risk of obsolescence and unproductive stock levels.
  • Maintain current Logistics Inventory process documentation and update to align with current business operational landscape
  • Develop and document new Logistics Inventory processes, and where required, engage all relevant stakeholders across the business
  • Initiate and deliver high levels of automation to provide autonomy for internal customer reporting, including automated data refreshing, population and delivery
  • Provide high levels of ‘future proofing’ for changes/enhancements.
  • Mentor Analysts to improve delivery across new platforms of services to the business  
  • Be a key member of The Logistics Data Management team and the development of a common data model within the Azure Environment
  • Manage the collation and reporting of Departmental KPI performance
  • Manage team ensuring that recruitment, on-boarding, performance reviews and career plans are delivered consistently and diligently
  • Review complex numerical data and deliver clear and concise insight to the Logistics Leadership Team
  • Drive a culture of constant innovation and improvement
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Educated to degree level
  • Structured and organised approach to the management of work packages.
  • Design, development and maintenance capabilities, utilising a wide platform of databases and development languages.
  • Experience of working both individually and within project teams to challenging deadlines.
  • Confident in dealing with stakeholders, ensuring the requirements of the department and wider business are met
  • Proven communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Broad experience of leading teams and getting the best from people
  • Proven ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of though and decisive authority
  • Excel (Advanced)
  • VBA experience required
  • SAP experience is preferred.
  • IT literate Business Objects (Web Intelligence) / PowerQuery / Basic Azure/SQL / PowerApps / PowerBI / PowerPoint / Power Automate (Flow) / Visio / Sharepoint
